Lisa studied botany, chemistry, and health sciences at UNC-Asheville, and graduated summa cum laude with several awards in chemistry and biology. She combines a deep understanding of traditional, Vitalist herbalism with a scientifically-integrated and holistic approach to natural health.

Lisa founded and still teaches at the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism, was an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacognosy at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, and has lectured and taught classes at numerous schools and conferences around the world. She is the author of Herbal Constituents, 2nd Ed., the standard textbook of phytochemistry for herbalists. Lisa currently teaches a distance learning course on herbal constituents for practitioners through the Herbal Medics Academy and develops formulas for herbal products companies.
